Miss Uganda UK 2009 Launch Party Press Release
Miss Uganda UK 2009 Launched

After nearly half a decade in limbo, the Miss Uganda UK pageant was revived at the glamorous Miss Uganda UK 2009 Launch Party that was held at the Club Volts, London VIP Lounge.  The party attracted lots of anxious prospective contestants, potential sponsors and personnel from the fashion and beauty industry.

Joyce Church, who is heading the Miss Uganda UK 2009 organising team promised to put together ‘the most glamorous Ugandan event of the year’ in a speech that she delivered at the kick off for the search of the face of the Uganda community in UK. The team also includes the last crown Miss Uganda UK queen, Jacqueline Matovu, who is in charge of the contestants through her company JM Promotions.

The launch party that attracted hundreds of Ugandans across London was highlighted by performances from UK-based Ugandan artists, including Beatrice Byakika, MC Paddy Dee and Rasta Soki, OJ-who also features in the club hit Zino Ennaku alongside Radio Moze and Weasel, and Castor P. Other performers were Nelly Kibirige, MC  Moseh, and Fiona Nsubuga. The line-up up of singers kept the excited crowd entertained with their energetic performances. It was a night of original compositions for them and a strictly Ugandan music playlist from the host DJS. These included DJ Isaac and Club Volts’ DJ Ken. The surprise in the DJ box was DJ Dan Luv. The most prominent Ugandan DJ in the UK was a surprise appearance from the organisers. The DJs’ strict playlist was a major hit with the crowd that rarely gets chance to dance to lots of Ugandan music in clubs. Karaoke night MC Nancy Kitaka was the hostess on the night with the help of MC Paddy Dee.

The Launch Party was also the official inception of the contestants’ registration that is now underway. The Miss Uganda UK 2009 contestants will be officially unveiled on Valentines weekend at the Meet the Contestants Bash on Sunday, February 15 in the Club Volts VIP Lounge which is the exclusive venue for all Miss Uganda UK 2009 build-up events.
