Miss Uganda UK is an innovative way to put Uganda on the map for international trade and tourism and to let the world learn about our history, beauty, culture, traditions, tourism potential and all aspects of Ugandan lifestyle both here in the UK and across the globe. Our contestants are encouraged to promote all these attributes that Uganda has to offer. The Miss Uganda UK 2009 grand finale of 13th June 2009 is an opportunity for Ugandans not only in the UK but globally to showcase to the World and celebrate the beauty of all Ugandan women. In the process of doing that, we take the opportunity to remember all those that are left behind in Northern Uganda. Miss Uganda UK 2009 will highlight the plight and raise funds for the underprivileged children of Northern Uganda. The Miss Uganda UK 2009 event gives us all an opportunity to give back to our community and come to the aid of those less fortunate than ourselves. Miss Uganda UK Official Charity is Latitude Care Network (LCN). LCN is a registered charity in England & Wales with its headquarters in the London Borough of Brent with branches in Northern Uganda. LCN aspires to address the socio-economic, physiological, physical health and environmental needs of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged members of the society predominantly children and youth in the deprived areas of Northern Region of Uganda. This year’s aim is to help raise funds for LCN’s development and rehabilitation programme for the settlement of marginalized and underprivileged children of Northern Uganda. This programme enables children and young adults resume life back into their villages from the war camps. This has been as a result of over 22 years of displacements due to the prolonged conflicts in the Northern Region, which has claimed so many lives and brought about the human sufferings to thousands as a result. Not only does Miss Uganda UK hope to raise much-needed funds for this great cause, it will also use this event as a platform to highlight the awareness of the plight and solidarity of the children of Northern Uganda.
